My male cat is blind. Can he still mate and breed like other cats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 4.5 lbs

I have a 6 month old male cat and he is blind when he was 2 weeks old due to eye infection (viral infection). I'm a breeder therefore Im not going to neuter him. Can he mate like a normal cat?

I would discourage from using him as breeding stock since his infection was so severe as a kitten. But to answer your question, he should be able to breed if he can find the female and mount correctly. This may take practice and a few tries but it would not affect his fertility level
