Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered
My 2 year old male cat has been acting like there has something stuck in his mouth. He keeps licking his lips and shaking his head with his tongue out. After he then runs out of the room like he is in discomfort. He has not lost his appetite and has eaten a packets worth of food and some Dreamies treats. Having watched him for a few hours, it appears that it is brought on when he licks a certain place on his back. I have wiped him off with a damp cloth but this hasn't helped. Any advice?

Poor Alfie, sounds like he is uncomfortable! This could definitely be a "yuck!" response if he got something on his back that he's tasting when he grooms himself, or it could be something related to his mouth such as an infected tooth (he's a little young, but it's still possible), something stuck between his teeth, under his tongue, or across the roof of his mouth, or he could be developing orofacial pain syndrome. I definitely recommend having a vet take a look if this continues more than a day or two. Hope this helps.
