My dog is itchy from allergies. Benadryl makes him sleepy. What helps?

My dog is super itchy. I had him checked it isn't fleas or anything. My vet says it's probably allergies. She said I can give him benedryl but that does really do much besides make him sleepy. Any advice on how I can help my pup not be so itchy? Thanks ❤. Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Male | unneutered | 6 months old | 20 lbs

At 6 months old Ollie is a little young for allergies, but it can happen. I would make sure that your vet checked for demodex and sarcoptes mange as well. At this age he is too young for Apoquel which is an anti itch medication but he could get Cytopoint injections which are also helpful for itching. Make sure he is on a good flea preventive as well just to be sure.
