Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 60 lbs
In the last 6 months, my 8 yr old boxer mix has bitten my sister and my husband. On average, he's an aggressive dog, but never towards us. My husband had to get several stitches in the face this week. Both times my dog was lying down (in different locations) but not asleep from what i was told. We are afraid finding a behavioral specialist will be too expensive and it breaks our hearts to think of having to put him down. Any advice you can give us would be wonderful.

I am sorry you are going through this with Jackson. I would recommend taking him to a vet for a good physical exam as the first step! IT is really important to make sure Jackson is not painful or have an underlying disease that might cause aggression. Your vet should be able to run some basic blood work and possible x-rays and help you determine the cause of the aggression. If he is medically healthy than a trainer is the best next step. That is because a trainer can come into your house and see what actions are leading towards aggression.
