Should I buy a 3-week-old puppy diagnosed with pneumonia? What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Male | unneutered | 21 days old

hi I'm buying a puppy, which is currently around 3 weeks old. Today he was taken to the vets with pneumonia. They have been open and upfront about this and have posted regular photos of all the 11 puppies they have on their website as the puppies grow and develop. I'm just unsure as to whether having this condition at such a young age should deter me from buying him. They are labrador x labrador retrievers. Any advice you can give would be very appreciated. Thank you, Neil

I would be concerned about purchasing the puppy with such a history, there is a possibility it may be an indication of additions issues such as swallowing difficulties, weakened immune system or other internal causes, especially if this pup is smaller than the siblings
