My puppy got ticks. How to prevent them safely before 4 months?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 11 days old

I found 2 ticks on my dog's head today but I removed those. The vet said we can't use the spray on him till he's 4 months old. What should I do to prevent ticks ? And will they be back ?

Where there is one tick, there could be more. Any time you go outside with Max, he needs to be checked thoroughly for ticks. If he is over 7 weeks old, a Seresto flea and tick collar is safe, just make sure he can't chew on it! You can also purchase Frontline spray - spray a small amount on a towel and use the towel to wipe down Max.
