Can my dog eat larger kibble even if it's for medium breeds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 2 months old

We won some dog food from the brand we usually get food from but they sent a package for medium breeds (10-25 kg). Is it okay to feed that to Kiba if I respect his usual amount? The only difference seems to be the size of the kibble which he's fine with, they aren't too big, the flavour is the same, lamb and rice

Yes, it is fine to feed Kiba a food that is larger kibble! In fact, feeding larger kibble makes dogs chew a little more, which is great for preventing tartar build up on their teeth. Just watch Kiba the first few times that you feed it to make sure that he is chewing well and doesn't seem to have any choking from swallowing large pieces.
