Bravo sounds like a typical Golden Retriever! They can be very food motivated. I would ask your vet about the proper amounts to feed him based on his weight, and they'll be able to tell you if he's growing aappropriately as well. We don't want large breed dogs growing too fast as it can predispose them to joint problems. Best of luck!

Read Nero's bag of food to see if you are feeding him enough, it will tell you the amount he should be getting daily. Also have him seen by a vet to make sure there isn't a medical reason behind him being so hungry, like intestinal worms.

He’s telling you you’re not feeding him enough. I judge the amount to feed a growing puppy by how they eat. They should be hungry at each meal, and almost finish the food. If he’s ravenous then I gradually increase the amount at each feeding, and also add another meal. If he’s growing quickly you want him to have enough nutrition. As he grows he may not eat as much later and not want the extra meal. It’s fine then to go to three or two meals daily. I don’t worry about them getting fat until they are six months to a year old, then certainly at that point or when he’s fully grown you can reduce the amount or change the food to diet food. Puppies do tend to have large appetites because they are growing so quickly. I'd first make sure you are feeding her a puppy formulated food. Puppies need higher amounts of calories, protein, and calcium than adult dogs, and a puppy formulated food would provide that for Bonnie. I would recommend feeding her a high quality puppy formulated food, such as Royal Canin or Hills Science diet. Finally, I recommend feeding according to the package instructions on the food to make sure she is getting the correct amount, and avoid giving her human food, as there are many that are poisonous to a dog.

How much should I be feeding? I feed nutrena large breed puppy chow and they recommend 2-3 cups for 15-25lb dogs. He weighs less than 15 I think, but still seems extremely hungry after each meal
You should weigh your dog. If you take him to your vet, you can usually weigh him for free. Then follow the instructions on the bag. If they recommend 2-3 cups (daily) for 15 -25 lbs puppies, then a 15 lbs puppy would get 2 cups split up over 4 feeds/day. If your puppy loses condition or weight I suggest you either increase the amount of feed or change (transition over several days) to a better puppy food such as manufactured by Hill's, Royal Canin or Purina Pro Plan, etc.

Determine how much to feed a puppy can certainly be quite confusing! I'm glad to hear that you are offering Bourbon food four times per day. In another month, you can decrease his feeding to three times a day, and eventually twice per day. The Royal Canin Maxi Starter food is great for growing puppies! By 2 months of age, Bourbon should be able to start chewing through dry kibble, so you can start to wean him off of the water soaked kibble over the next few weeks. Cerelac is not a necessary component of any dog's diet, so I would recommend stopping that and strictly feeding the balanced puppy food. Based upon the feeding guide for your puppy food, Bourbon should eat around 250 - 260 gm per day, meaning that he should eat around 60 - 65 gm per meal. Puppies will eat themselves sick if you allow it. Portion sizes for puppies are not one size fits all. Check the back of the bag of food. Manufacturers frequently provide feeding guidelines based on your puppy's age and weight. Feed 3-4 times daily then decrease as the puppy matures until you are feeding twice daily. Since he is extremely food driven, use this to your advantage when training.

I have a 9 week old gsd puppy and we're concerned we're not feeding him enough. I'm going by the recommendation of the bag of food we're feeding him(Science diet large breed puppy food). I believe they recommend 1 7/8 cup per day. I split it up into
A 9 week old puppy should generally be fed 3 times a day to prevent hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Also, scarfing down food can put a large breed puppy at risk for ingestion of excess air and bloat which can be life threatening. I recommend adding a feeding, perhaps of the same amount as the other two and consulting with your vet re: body condition scoring. If your puppy currently has a low body condition score (google body conditon scoring dogs for a diagram), continue with the extra feeding until Luke is at an ideal body condition (noticeable waist but ribs/spine not prominent). If rapid eating persists, purchasing a puzzle feeder to slow down feedings (available on Amazon.com) is recommended. Good luck!

Oh my goodness, too much cuteness!!! Any of the premium dog foods are good. The pet food industry has come a very long way in recent years. I am a personal fan of Purina foods. Which ever food you choose I would recommend that it be one specifically formulated for large breed dogs. As far as how much to feed, the recommendations on the bag are generally a good guideline. You just want to make sure that you are weighing Toby every couple of weeks and adjusting the amount of food accordingly. The goal is to ensure that he is receiving his nutrients, but also to make sure he is not an overweight puppy (or adult). His hips and joints will thank you later. I have a 7 month old Black Lab right now I feed him Purina One Large Breed and seems to do fine on this food, however he always seems hungry. Is this just a puppy thing or should I feed higher quality food.
Puppies, and Labradors especially, tend to be food motives and some of them can be food obsessed. May sure your puppy is not too thin, if he is then increase the food. Purina 1 is a good diet but if you are looking to change, Royal Canin makes a diet specifically for Labs and it addresses their healthy appetites! They make a puppy and an adult formula and the pets tend to do really well on this diet. Adding canned veggies can also help him to feel full. Get the no salt added variety and watch for any diarrhea as it increases his fiber. Stick to peas, carrots or green beans.
