What are the small black bumps on my cat's chin? Home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 4 years and 11 months old | 15 lbs

My cat has small black bumps under his chin and close to his lower lip. What could this be and is there anything that can be done at home? He doesn't like me to touch them.

The pictures are a bit blurred but this presentation seems compatible with a mild cases of feline acne. An antiseborrheic shampoo, such as those containing benzoyl peroxide (at a concentration of 3% or less like this one https://www.amazon.com/DermaPet-Benzoyl-Peroxide-Shampoo-DermaBenSS/dp/B00JBCGQNS) can be used to break down the excess oils. Common differentials are mites, bacterial and fungal infestation. Very mild cases are self resolving so it may be that you will the signs disappearing without any treatment.
