My spayed puppy has mucus in poop and won't eat. When to see vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 months old | 7.2 lbs

puppy was spayed last Monday. Her pain meds have been finished since Saturday. This morning she pooped a large amount. 1st was solid (normal) 2nd was mostly solid but had a little mucous. 3rd was a drop of mucous & she's been refusing her kibble all day she ate boiled chicken. & she's had some water. She's playful but at the same time she's been sleeping most of the day bcuz there's not much else she can do w/ stitches & it is hot outside. Should I wait till the morning to see if this persists?

Since she did eat chicken and is not vomiting, waiting to see how her night goes is very reasonable. If you notice any bloody diarrhea or she persistently vomits tonight, then I would get her seen tonight.
