Is it safe for my young puppy to go to the beach with basic shots?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shorthaired Pointer (duplicate) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 17 days old | 7 lbs

I live in Hawaii with my 7 week old puppy. Is she too young to play on the beach? She is pretty advanced, mostly uses restroom outside and on pads, walks on leash, etc. she has basic shots for her age

Unfortunately I would recommend not letting your puppy on the beach until she is at least 4 months old and has had all of her vaccines. Until a puppy is old enough to have all of their vaccines, they are at risk for very dangerous diseases like parvo, distemper and kennel cough. The puppy can also pick up things like intestinal parasites from waste other dogs may have left on the beach. Better to be safe than sorry!
