Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | neutered | 8 years and 9 months old | 22 lbs
My 9 y/o Frenchie has sudden, fast-growing, wart-like bump under his mouth. Abt 1/2 the size of a pea, & shaped/textured sort of like a pinecone- also has dif. colors, textures, hardnesses. Mostly pink, but has a few black flecks; mostly soft/squishy but dark parts feel harder. Can't get clear photo. He goes to the vet Fri, but it's grown exponentially larger since I found it 2 wks ago. Is there ANY CHANCE it could be something totally benign? Articles online sound grim, and I'm terrified.

Yes, there is a chance this may be a benign papilomma/wart which has become tramautised from knocking on food bowl etc. Your vet may wish to biopsy the area to determine the underlying nature and fully investigate

It's hard to tell from the photos but it could be an infection so that would be nothing to worry about. If it's a growth there looks like there is enough skin around it to lift it up so they should be able to surgically remove it and biopsy it for a diagnosis. You have caught this early so seeing your veterinarian Friday is a good plan. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you get answers about Frankie's care.
