Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 19 years and 3 months old | 9 lbs

If a kitten is old enough to get its shots (8 weeks old) but weighs under 2 lbs, can i still have it vaccinated?

I would recommend scheduling s veterinary check up, vaccines are typically based on age and health status though their size can play a role in it.but she should be checked for parasites possibly feline leukemia tested by this age. If she's healthy the vet will discuss with you her vaccine schedule.

If there are no medical or development causes for your kitten being so small, it should be safe to vaccinate. Your veterinarian will be able to determine if it would be appropriate for Chi-chi Rima to be vaccinated now or if you should wait until 10 weeks.
