Is it normal for my 4-month-old kitten's fang teeth to be falling out?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 30 days old

My kitten is about 4 months old and I just noticed that one of her bottom fangs of whatever it's called is falling out but I'm not sure if it's a normal thing for kittens or if it's because the food I'm giving her is too tough for her teeth

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cleo is losing her kitten teeth and getting her adult teeth in. The canine (fang) teeth come in around 4-6 months of age. Sounds like this is completely normal and has nothing do to with the food that you are feeding her. Over the next 2 months you will notice the canine teeth (kitten) will fall out and the adult teeth will replace them. Sounds like Cleo is doing good otherwise. I wish you two the best.
