Why is my dog's tongue suddenly red? Is it a concern if she's normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | 9 months and 13 days old | 57 lbs

Hi.. I have noticed that from past 3-4 days my ghontu's tongue is significantly red in colour. Its almost maroon i wouls say. Previously her tongue was pinkish.I am getting worried now. But I don't see her sick, she is regular in her activities and also she's eating normally. Is there something I should be concerned about?

The color of a dog's tongue can vary minute to minute. If she is acting normal otherwise, check it again every few hours. If it stays dark red, it may be wise to have Ghontu examined by a veterinarian. Make sure she has plenty of water and shade available, as a red tongue could indicate she is too hot. If she becomes lethargic, doesn't eat or drink, etc. she should see a vet as soon as possible.
