Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 11 years and 1 month old | 16 lbs
My cat sometimes twitches when he sleeps. Not often, but sometimes it's just a foot and other times his whole body. This has happened for a while now. He eats, drinks and poops normal. Also, we recently got a new Kitten. They get along well. Although Tony doesn't like to play with him too much as he is really hyper. Recently I've noticed a little bit of blood in Tony' s stool but not every time. I don't know if it has anything to do with the new cat.

Hello! Your description of Tony's twitching while he sleeps sounds like he is dreaming - some animals will twitch, some will even move their whole legs as if running, and some will vocalize in their sleep! This is a normal behavior. The small bits of blood in Tony's stool may indicate colitis, which can be brought on by stress - and introducing a new animal to the house could certainly cause this. If it is mild and infrequent you may monitor it, but if it continues and gets worse, he should be seen by a vet, and a stool sample should be checked, to rule out other medical causes of bleeding such as parasites, IBD, or anal gland problems. Hope this helps.
