My dog has flea/fly allergies. Is Seresto better than Hartz collar?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Yes I got an answer about Nina but I know she's allergic to flea bites and fly bites I was wondering if getting a seresto collar would be better than the hartz one she has on now I've also treated the house and yard and bathed her what else is there I can do besides the doggy aspirin and benadryl

Seresto is a very good product and in my experience would work best. Otherwise it seems you are doing everything Nina needs. Benadryl and any other medication you are giving should be ideally supervised by your veterinarian. Hope that answers your questions, if not please contact us again!

Poor, Nina. Insect allergies are the worst! I do think that the Seresto collars work a lot better for preventing fleas than Hartz collars, they last longer, too! Also, remember that all pets in your household need to be treated for fleas to help prevent fleas on Nina. However, neither collar will prevent flies. The best way to prevent fly bites is keeping Nina clean and free of debris that could be caught in her coat. Also keep her areas clean and hygienic. If the flies are biting in a certain area of her body (commonly around the ears), you can apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly. If that doesn't help, consider discussing other fly preventatives with your regular veterinarian as there are a couple prescription products that may help.
