Puppy ate Skittles, now vomiting and diarrhea. Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 30 days old | 25 lbs

Hi, I have a 3 month old, female, australian Sheppard. 2 days ago her and another puppy got into a family size bag of Skittles and since then she has had a dry nose, vomiting, and diarrhea. Is this something that she can recover on her own or do I need to take her to the vet.

Uh oh, naughty puppies! Mild cases of GI upset can often resolve with a bland diet of rice and cooked chicken breast. However, little puppies such as Angel can dehydrate quickly if they can't keep anything down, so anything lasting longer than a day should be addressed by a vet. After 2 days of vomiting and diarrhea, your pups likely need fluids to combat dehydration, and will feel much better faster if they are given medication to combat the vomiting and GI upset. So, I would take them in as soon as possible. Hope this helps and they feel better soon!
