Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Male | neutered | 12 years and 1 month old | 17 lbs
I think my dog has ketoacidosis. He is diabetic Min Pin 11 years old. I called an emergency hospital and they told me it would be $2000 to bring him in. (I don't have $2000 and I have to pay it up front). I can take him to my own vet in the morning. What can I do between now and then to ensure that he doesn't die in the night. The keto strip said he has moderate ketoacidosis..

Hello, sorry to hear about Finn. If you're measuring ketones in his urine that may be an early sign that his insulin needs to be increased. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is ketoacidotic. I would give him plenty of liquids for tonight you think he is otherwise doing ok and is not lethargic, vomiting, or acting sick. Hope this helps and best of luck

Poor guy. IT sounds like your pet has Diabetes and its severe with ketoacidosis. He needs to start insulin right away and be closely monitored by your vet to ensure his levels come down quickly and the ketones resolve. Hospitalization of your pet may be needed to stablize him. Hopefully he can be stabilized quickly and then managed well with a diabetic diet and regular insulin prescribed by your vet. I do hope that Mike gets better soon! Best wishes and take care.
