My cat is hissing and aggressive after dog fight. How can I re-enter?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old

We have an indoor cat and an outdoor dog. They do not get along. An hour ago our dog attacked our cat through the door. The cat was sticking her arms out and the dog might of bit her but we are not sure. I went to my cat and she smelled the dogs scent I believe because she suddenly attacked me and tried jumping on me but I ran out and closed the door. She now won't let me back inside without her hissing at me if I take even a step inside. She is ready to attack me again if I go inside

Hello, sorry to hear about Princess. Your cat is very scared and stressed at the moment. Allow her sometime to calm down and try changing your clothes/getting your dog as far away as possible to where she is then try and go back inside. When she is calm, bring her to your vet to have her evaluated and make sure she doesn't have any injuries. Hope this helps.
