Is a vaccinated cat safe around a FeLV positive cat after exposure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | spayed | 2 years and 4 months old | 8 lbs

Our cat was in the same household in May for three weeks as a cat that we now found to have feline leukemia. She was tested for feline leukemia and it was negative and she is now vaccinated. Will it be safe for her to be in that same house hold for two weeks next month if she is now vaccinated?

Vaccines are protective but cannot offer 100% guarantee. I would not recommend very close contact, mutual grooming or sharing of food bowls etc. Rigorous flea prevention and keeping them in separate rooms may be the safest option
