This depends slightly on the underlying condition - some dogs with liver disease do best on a specialised liver support diet such as royal canin hepatic or hills l/d. If epilepsy is the underlying cause, purina nc neurocare is showing some very promising results

I recommend foods that follow the WSAVA guidelines: this would include Iams, Purina, Hilo’s Science Diet and Royal Canin. You could try Royal Canin’s Golden Retriever diet. Another option would be to ask your vet about starting a prescription diet from Purina that could help control seizures in epileptic dogs - the diet is called Neurocare. Purina also makes a Somewhat similar Bright Minds over the counter food. https://www.wsava.org/WSAVA/media/Images/Association%20logos/WSAVA-Nutrition-Assessment-Guidelines-(2011)_JSAP.pdf
