Why does my cat's face turn pink around eyes and mouth after naps?

Why does my 14yr. old male cat (Rudy) turn pink in the face at times, especially after awakening from a nap? The white around his eye lashes and the white around his mouth and chin turns pink! Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sounds like Rudy is a very well loved cat. The changes you are describing are probably just changes in blood flow to those areas of the skin. If the skin and hair look normal and there is no itching, I would assume these are just changes in blood flow and you don't have anything to worry about. I hope Rudy continues to do well.
