Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Female | spayed | 5 months and 29 days old | 22 lbs
We recently took Kismet to the vet for diarrhea that had been off and on since Saturday. The vet did a fecal smear and confirmed she had c perfringens. She put her on amoxicillin for 7 days as well as pro pectin gel. My concern is this- I didn't get a read from her on how common/uncommon this is or how worried I should be. She has an appetite, is drinking lots of water, and wants to play. I'm just obviously very worried about her and want her to make a full recovery. I just need reassurance.

Clostridia is a type of bacteria that produces toxins that annoy the gut. About 30% of dogs who get diarrohea have clostridia isolated so it is relatively common. I wouldnt worry too much as it responds well to treatment. The bacteria is often found in decaying matter.
