My dog ate a CD. Should I be worried? What symptoms should I watch?

Last night, my terrier Rosie got into some audio CDs and chewed up two of them pretty badly… I suspect she might have ingested about a third of one of the CDs. I am wondering if it is likely that she will pass these pieces without a problem, or if there are certain signs I should watch for and if I should be concerned.

If she chewed them up small enough then there is a chance they will pass with no issues. However, you should watch out for excessive vomiting (even water), severe abdominal pain, lack of adequate stool size, lethargy and lack of appetite. If you have not seen any symptoms so far, then chances are she will be fine. Best case scenario is that she will have a little stomach upset because of the frayed edges of the CD she ingested, in which case a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days may help settle her stomach. If she is having a hard time getting back to normal, then its best to have her seen by your vet for further care. Best wishes with Rose and I hope everything works out well for her. Take care.
