Why is my 10-year-old cocker spaniel suddenly unable to stand up?

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | unneutered | 9 years and 11 months old | 39 lbs

My cocker spaniel aged 10 is unable to stand up. Within 24 hours he has gone from a healthy dog running around to being unable to stand. My local vet has no idea

Since your regular vet was not able to figure out what is going on with Finley you may want to consider asking for a referral to an internal medicine specialist. Finley needs to have X-rays and possibly blood work performed. I would be concerned that Finley may have an inflamed disc in his back that is putting pressure on his spinal cord causing pain and immobility. Typically dogs with a protruding disc like this go down quickly and need pain medication and anti-inflammatory drugs to help them recover. I hope you can find a vet that is able to help you and Finley.
