My cat has a scabbed hair loss patch. Should I take him to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 12.5 lbs

My cat recently, 3-4 days ago, developed a small patch of slight hair loss on his side, near back flank. it is now kind of scabbed over and doesn't seem to be getting larger. Should I go to the vet or monitor it and see what happens? I did recently change his wet food and litter and have since changed back. Could that be the cause or something worse? He is a 1 and 3 month old Bengal and other than this, he's happy & full of energy as usual! Thank you for your time and suggestions!

Tempo is a handsome boy. If it is only that one small lesion and seems to be resolving on its own I would just monitor. If he is excessively licking it, grooming it,or you notice scanning or bleeding or any other lesions occur then he should have a check up.
