Dog shaking, lethargic, and won't be pet. What could be wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 years and 9 months old

My dog came up to me pressing against me while trembling. We took him outside and he went poop and the shaking stopped. However he's now lethargic and seems to want to be near us but not be pet. He briefly stood up and started panting and shaking, but then stopped and laid down. He is watching us but not doing anything. His gums are pink, nose is wet, ate nothing except his normal dinner a few hours ago, and was fine overall until now. What is wrong?

Hello there. It sounds like Mochi may be painful. This could be due to back injury or sprain/strain of legs. However, other issues that could make Mochi act abnormally are neurologic disease or infection. I recommend taking him to the veterinarian so he can get a full examine to determine why he is acting abnormally. Your veterinarian may want to do bloodwork and/or x-rays to help make a diagnosis.
