Why is my dog suddenly peeing inside and acting odd after being caged?

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | neutered | 4 years and 10 months old | 35 lbs

my dog was in his cage for over a day because the person who was supposed to take care of him when i was out of town didn't. he has since had two peeing accidents tonight and is acting odd

I am so very sorry to hear that you and Caesar had to go through this. It would have been upsetting for him to be left in the cage for so long. Because you are only noticing accidents, and no other changes at the moment. I would suggest that the issue is stress or anxiety related. I am sure Caesar needs time to return to his normal self and feel safe and secure again. I would try to help him feel more secure by spending extra time with him, extra cuddles and attention and extra walks together. If you continue to notice accidents over the next couple of days, if he has vomiting or diarrhoea, increased thirst, seems depressed or down I would take him in to see his vet. There could be an underlaying medical cause for the accidents such as a urinary tract infection, however, these are relatively rare in male dogs.
