What dog food helps kidney stones but won't cause diarrhea?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 15 years and 2 months old | 13 lbs

My 15 year old dog was put on prescription Purina U/R because she has kidney stones. This food is causing her to have diarrhea. When I put her on Brown rice with chicken with a probiotic supplement, her stool became normal. What can I feed her that will prevent diarrhea and also prohibit growth of kidney stones and dissolve the stones she already has? Coco also has sinus arrhythmia. Thank you so much.

You could try really gradually introducing the new food, mix it with chicken and rice to see if that keeps the tummy settled and gradually increase the amonut of new food. You can try giving the probiotoc at the same time.
