Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 10 years old | 65 lbs
My loving pet has been diagnosed with cancer. I do not remember what type, and since then he has grown a cyst/tumor on his back. Recently he had scratched it and now it's like an open wound. Lately he's been really tired doesn't eat as much as he use to and I'm so heart broken because I feel as if I failed him. At the same time I feel like he's suffering. What to do?

I'm so sorry to hear about Tigger. It is absolutely heart breaking to have your pet diagnosed with cancer. Please do not feel as though you have failed him. You have provided him with a loving home and do everything you can for him. If you feel that the cyst on his back is significantly affecting his quality of life, I would recommend contacting your veterinarian. Sometimes ruptured cysts can become infected causing discomfort and drainage. In some cases, antibiotics can be helpful. If antibiotics are not an option or if they do not help and you feel that Tigger is suffering, it is kindest to consider humane euthanasia. I would discuss this with your veterinarian as they know Tigger well and can help guide you in this difficult time.
