Why does my 4-month-old puppy eat fast, have hard poop, and pee a lot?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

I found a 4 to 5 month old puppy. He was skin and bones. I've had him for 2 weeks and he still swallows his dry food whole. His poop is very hard and he pees at least twice an hour. Please advise.

Tubby is adorable and I love the name! Because he was a stray he will eat quickly because he doesn't know where the next meal is coming from yet. I recommend trying to slow his eating down by spreading it out on the floor. It also sounds like he is not quite potty trained yet and that's why he is urinating so frequently. Continue to work on potty training and this may resolve with time. If you would like to discuss your concerns further I am happy to do a consultation. Kisses to Tubby!
