My senior dog's bleeding wart: Is my Neosporin first aid enough?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 14 years and 6 months old | 43 lbs

My dog is 14. Has "old dog warts". One popped out on her neck and bleed. They always do when they show up for the first time. This one however turned into a pustule filled with blood. Placed pressure on it and a stream of blood shot out 2 ft. There is a hole the size of a pencil eraser next to the wart. No signs of infection. No pain. I administered first aid... Shaved her neck so bandage would stay & placed Neosporin on the wound. Any ideas?

It looks like the wart just got inflamed or traumatized. I would not worry about it. Cleaning it and applying Neosporin is perfect! Great job! I would keep it clean and keep applying the Neosporin until healed. Just DON'T use peroxide on it as that will inhibit healing. Hope this helps! Best wishes!
