Can I apply Frontline to my cat a week after Sergeant flea treatment?

is it safe for my cats to apply frontline after using sergeant's silver about a week ago, like, they have totally different ingredients, are they going to interact and harm my cats?

Cats can be sensitive to flea medications. For that reason it is safest to wait 2 weeks between products even with different ingredients. Your vet can prescribe a cap star which is a pill that will last for a day that can help while you wait the remaining time

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would wait at least another 2 weeks before using another topical. In the meantime, you can definitely use one of the oral cat flea products. You can purchase Capstar in most bigger pet stores. It only lasts 24 hours, but you can administer it several times a week until you can use another topical ( I recommend either Frontline Gold, or Bravecto for cats ). Or you can purchase Comfortis from your veterinarian. With this, 1 pill will last 30 days. I like Revolution, more because it gets heartworms plus hookworms & roundworms, but it is a topical, too. So use an oral tablet for now. They work great. Take care.

I place Sentry Plus flea medication on my cats last Wednesday. The medicine does not seem to be working. Can I safely use Frontline now or do I need to wait one month to apply it?
Since both Sentry and Frontline use the same active ingredient (fipronil) it is unlikely that you will see better protection switching to the Frontline. You will need to choose a product with a different ingredient, like Advantage or Revolution or a Seresto collar. If you choose to use another topical, I would recommend bathing your kitty today to remove any remnants of the Sentry, and wait 3 days to apply the next topical. It is important to wait after bathing so that the natural body oils have time to coat the skin to ensure adequate absorption. You do not need to wait or bathe to use a Seresto collar.

We put advantage on our cat, but washed it off with a bath (dish soap) in less than 12 hours. Can we apply frontline? Adult cat, 13 lbs. advantage was applied on Tuesday.
The two treatments are not closely related but I would still recommend 7-10days before reapplying. You do not mention why you washed off the advantage but I would recommend combing with a flea comb to remove fleas in the meantime if still present. It may be worth considering using comfortis or capstar tablets if he does not tolerate spot on medications (it is often the carrier and not the active ingredient that pets are sensitive to)

Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea medication, so I would not put the Seresto collar on Willow just yet. Wait at least two weeks, then apply it. You can give her Capstar now. It’s a one time pill that starts killing fleas and is safe to give. I hope this helps!

I gave my cat frontline 2 weeks ago today and I don’t think it worked. In the past two days I’ve pulled off 5 living fleas. I’ve treated the house, washed linens and bought vets best spray. Nothing is working. I’ve also given her 2 flea baths. Would
Poor girl. Yes most topicals can be reapplied safely after waiting a minimum of 2 weeks. However, I would stop the flea baths, which can strip a lot of the product off the skin, leading to a decrease in efficacy. I am not a fan of Frontline due to its poor flea coverage, instead I would suggest another product such as Revolution or Comfortis for better flea management. Also just note that you can give Capstar, a flea pill that rids fleas within 1 hr but is not a long term preventative, at any time, without waiting 2 weeks after a previous flea treatment, if you have another outbreak of fleas. You should be able to give the advantage (for cats) about 10 days after having reapplied the Frontline. However there is more you need to do to get rid of fleas: Unfortunately fleas only hop on the body of your pet when they want to feed, then they hop off again and stay in your pet's environment. So you need to treat all pets in the household as well as the environment (which contains the fleas, their eggs and larvae). Flea treatment: 1) Get some flea medication such as a Flea spray or a spot on from a pet shop or your veterinarian and apply monthly (as you have done) 2) get flea powder, put some in your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum your house and furniture and also non-carpeted areas frequently to remove flea larvae and eggs which live off house dust., Dispose of the bag in the trash outside. My cat had a reaction to the Seresto flea and tick collar. When should I administer a topical medication like Frontline Plus for Cats?
I would wait until the skin reaction from the collar has completely healed before putting another topical medication on the skin. I would recommend asking your vet if you can give a dose of Comfortis this month. It is an oral flea prevention so you won’t have to worry about the skin at all. I hope this helps. I applied Frontline plus on my cats 2 weeks ago and I thought they were only 6lbs. Today i weighed them and learned they're actually 17lbs. Can i apply a new dose for their correct weight? We still clearly have a flea problem.
Yes it is safe to reapply most topical flea preventatives every 2 weeks if needed. This should be fine and safe to do since you are 2 weeks out. However, if you are still seeing fleas after this correct dosing, it is best to consider switching to a more effective product such as Revolution. Frontline has been around a long time now and I suspect there is some flea resistance to the product. I would recommend you use a different product like Program. Yes, you can do it now since it has been 2 weeks.
