My large dog ate another dog's antibiotic pills. Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My lab mix 75 lbs. ate my other dog 35 lb. beagles antibiotic rx. I cannot make out the name but starts with Rile.. 200 mg ( Ithink) that he was taking for UTI. Beagle had 5 days left of the medication. It appears that he ate the whole 5 days that were left which was probably about 15 pills. Should we go to the night emergency clinic? He seems to be fine. No stomach upset yet..

Antibiotics usually have large dose ranges and toxic dosages tend to be very high. Im not sure which antibiotic you had, but I imagine that the lab will be absoloutely fine considering it is larger than the beagle. He may have a slightly upset tummy but otherwise should be fine. If you notice anything odd contact your vet tomorrow and get some more antibiotics for the other dog.
