My dog has a red spot on his nipple. Is it serious or urgent?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Male | neutered | 6 years and 10 months old | 15 lbs

I have a male miniature pinscher that has a red spot right where his nipple is located. Is there any possible reason for this and does it require immediate attention?

I'm sorry to hear of your concerns with Jake. A red spot on the skin can occur for many reasons including an insect bite, skin infection, mange, trauma or allergies. As long as Jake is acting normally and eating and drinking, this probably does not require immediate attention. If the spot is not going away or if you notice any other lesions, I would recommend having Jake seen by your veterinarian.
