Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 13.2 lbs

Hello doc, My cat ate a small part of a leaf that belongs to a young oleander (not sure, I posted a pic of the plant on a forum and they said it's a young oleander). I read that the onset of symptoms is wishing half to few hours, however, It's been 24h and the cat hasn't shown any symptoms of poisoning whatsoever, he's normal, eating...should I worry ? Thanks

Hello, oleander contains a toxin which affects the hear. Other signs include nausea, vomiting, drooling. However, signs are typically seen within an hour or two after ingestion. If Misty is currently doing ok, then I would continue to monitor her for any evidence of weakness, collapse, lethargy, or vomiting and bring her to your veterinarian if you notice any of the above. Hope this helps.
