Why is my dog's gum bleeding? Is it an infection or injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 9 months old

I found a scar or like a very little hole on my dog's gum and it's bleeding. I'm worried if it is anot infection. Or can it just be that she ate something hard that made her hurt her gums?

That is probably due to the contact between the gum and the canine which is affected by tartar. There is moderate gengivitis as well. A check up and descale and polish of the teeth and an antiseptic mouth gel/solution (one designed specifically for dogs) would be ideal to resolve the condition. I would recommend to ask and discuss it with your local veterinarian.
