Hi, I am sorry to hear Dottie hurt her leg. She may have a torn ACL which is a ligament in the knee. She is likely not using it because it is painful. She will need to see a vet for some pain medication. If you can't do that now, she needs to be cage rested so she will not further injure the leg. Usually, these dogs need surgery, but some can heal on their own. She needs to stay calm for the next few weeks to see if it will heal. If she is a service dog, there are rescue groups who may be able to help you with pain medication at the very least. I would contact your local humane society and any rescue groups in your area. They sometimes have funds for situations like these. Good luck with Dottie!
