Should I get an orphaned kitten vet checked? What about behavior?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed

Hi, I'm considering taking a kitten from a friend that was orphaned. It is with it's sibling and plays normally. It appears to be around 3 months old but I'm not sure. Should I take it to a vet before agreeing to take it to make sure it is healthy or is a quick look from me enough? I also don't know how it will be behavioral wise as I have read orphaned cats can be troublesome. What is the advice on taking an orphaned cat from a friend? Thank you so much!

There shouldnt be an issue with this kitten being orphaned. It would be a good idea to get it checked over by a vet first before you commit to it, certain things you wont see yourself, like heart murmurs etc. Bedt of luck.
