My Shih Tzu has dry patches and black bugs. Could it be fleas?

I have a 10 yr old shih tzu named Kandi. I notice that she has small dry patches all over her and small black bugs coming from dry patches and she is scratching the dry area? Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 40 lbs

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Porr Kandi! It sounds like Kandi may have fleas and the fleas are causing her to scratch and thus causing a skin infection. I would recommend calling your Vet for a flea product and get her seen to relieve the scratching. She may also need antibiotics. Good luck!
