My dog has itchy skin, bumps, and fur loss. Is it allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 19 days old | 51 lbs

Noise is 7 months old and has never had a problem with his skin until we moved to Miami 3 months ago, I noticed he was itching and getting white buildups that looked almost like pimples all over his face and random scabs on his body. He broke out in hives about 2 mnths ago & ever since his skin has been awful, we changed his food in case of allegies but he still is covered in small white bumps and larger pink ones, has crocodile skin and losing fur. hes very itchy as well, vet put him on apoquel

Hello, sorry to hear about Noise. Allergic skin disease in dogs can be very frustrating to manage for owners, veterinarians, and our pets. It usually involves a long process of skin testing, strict diet trials, and medications. I would suggest continuing to follow your veterinarians instructions while hopefully the apoquel cuts Noise's itch cycle. Otherwise, you can ask to see s dermatologist in your area to obtain specialized treatment for Noise. I hope this helps.
