My puppy drank a lot of water and is now shivering. Is this okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 8 days old | 6 lbs

My new puppy has been eating and drinking perfectly fine for the past two days. However, she wasn't drinking today so when she did it was a lot of water. After drinking all of the water, she started shivering really bad. I don't know if this is normal.

It is not uncommon for very small animals to feel a little chilly after drinking a lot of water, however, if Kylie continues to shiver for more than a half hour, or if this happens again I would consider checking in with your veterinarian. If Kylie starts having any signs of lethargy, vomiting, or diarrhea you should seek an emergency clinic. I hope this helps!
