Should I give my cat cow colostrum for immune support after flu?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 4 months and 10 days old | 10 lbs

Hi, Just would like to know if it's beneficial to give cow colostrum for my cats ? They had the cat flu and one of them kind of struggles to get over it. He's been tested for Felv, Fip, Fiv...all came back negative. I did some research on immune boosters for cats. Cow colostrum was really interesting. I just want to know if its really safe and beneficial to give them some and if yes then what the dosage is? I could only get it in powder I don't know if that matters at all. Thank you

Colostrum from any species is unlikely to be beneficial as the antibodies will be broken down during digestion. Colostrum is only beneficial in most species for the first 24 to 48 hours due to changes in the intestinal lining. If you do not feel that your cat is recovering as you would like, I would recommend checking in with your veterinarian. Probiotics can sometimes be helpful during recovery for some illnesses.
