My female dog has foul vaginal discharge, swelling, and drinks lots.

Question

My 8 yr old white German Shepherd is having some discharge from her vaginal area. It is also very swollen and has a foul odor. She has been drinking quite a bit of water for the last 2 days as well and need to urinate more frequently. She looks very uncomfortable to sit down on her hind end. I am very worried as to what this could be. I live on disability and can afford to take her to the vet if I can avoid it. What could be going on with her? Thx Donna. I am very concerned about a possible pyometra in your dog which is an infection in the uterus. This can be potentially life threatening and Alaska needs to be seen by a vet right away. If she does have a pyometra she will need surgery. Good luck!
