My 5 year old cat (diagnosed with heart murmur) has been vomiting often as and having spells where she seems to be paralyzed. These spells last no longer than a minute each time, and she gets up and acts normally after. She has been drinking a lot more water, and using the litter box far more.often. could these be symptoms of diabetes?

I would be concerned about either diabetes or hyperthyroidism in Fuu. The symptoms you described can be seen with both of these diseases that usually affect older cats. I would recommend taking Fuu in to your vet to have some blood work performed. This simple test can distinguish between these two diseases. If she has diabetes she will need insulin injections daily and hyperthyroidism can be easily treated with a daily medication as well. Good luck!

There are many things that could cause the symptoms you describe. Kidney disease, diabetes, liver disease, and cancer among other causes. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Cats who don’t eat for several days can cause significant liver problems regardless of the reason they are not eating. Your veterinarian will likely recommend blood work and maybe an x-ray to help make a diagnosis. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

It sounds like Pudgy is developing chronic vomiting, there could be many reasons for that, for example pancretitis, IBD, Lymphoma, kidney failure and other conditions as well. you should take her to the vet in order to have a blood test done to start with, if the blood test comes back negative the next step will be x-ray or ultrasound.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jewel. Yes, she should see her veterinarian regarding the vomiting. It is not normal. She could have a food sensitivity, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease or a number of other causes. You veterinarian will get clues based on her physical exam and be able to guide you as fas as diagnostics and treatment options. I hope this information helps!
