Cat got Epi-Otic in nose/mouth/eye. What symptoms should I watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

When washing out our cat's ears with Epi-Otic we used too much and it seemed to be dripping out of her nose and mouth. Should we watch for anything? She also might have gotten a small amount in her eye (a drop or less). She doesn't seem to be irritated by anything (other than not liking her ears cleaned in general), is there anything we should do?

Hi, sorry to hear Neptune had this incident. There is nothing you can do now but she is at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Monitor her carefully for signs of breathing faster or heavier than normal. If you see that, take her to a vet. Also, rinse her eye our with some saline or lukewarm water. Watch for squinting or excessive tearing. Hopefully, she will be fine. Good luck!
