My dog seems to have an infection in her anal gland. It looks like a open wound right next to her rear. What should I do to heal this?

Since there is an open wound, you should have Sammie seen by your veterinarian for antibiotics and pain medications. An infected an anal gland is typically very painful. Until you can get in to see your veterinarian, keep the area clean with a warm wash cloth.
