My male rats penis is swollen and bleeding. What could cause it and how would I treat it

It sounds like your rat may have had some trauma to his penis or he may have a urinary tract infection. If he is housed with other rats I would recommend separating him for the time being. I would also recommend taking him to the vet to be checked out. If he does have a urinary tract infection he will need to antibiotics to help clear it up. Your vet can also prescribe some pain medication for him.

    Hi there! That sounds like a worry for sure! I wonder if he could have a bladder infection, or, like you said, maybe some sort of a trauma. It would be a great idea to have him checked out by your vet to see if he may need some medication?
