My 11lb dog ate two no-bake cookies with cocoa. Is she okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 years and 8 months old | 11 lbs

My 11lb dog ate two no bake cookies. She seems fine after two hours. However, I did give her a tsp of hydrogen peroxide and she did puke a small amount up. She had eaten dinner right before the cookies. Not sure if that helps. There is 1/4 a cup of cocoa in an entire batch

It sounds like there was not enough chocolate in the two cookies that Winnie ate to cause a problem. Keep an eye on her for the rest of the night. Signs of chocolate toxicity include hyperactivity, excessive vomiting, tremors, and seizures. If you notice any of the symptoms I would take her into the vet right away. But based on how much you described that she had I think she should be fine.

Even though Cadee is a small dog, the amount of actual cocoa in such a tiny piece of cookie should not be enough to harm her. She may have a bit of an upset stomach if she isn't used to eating "human food" like this, but I would not expect any serious toxicity issues. You can monitor her for the next 12 hours or so to be safe - watch for symptoms like restlessness or hyperactivity, racing heart rate, muscle tremors or seizures. If you see anything concerning, you can take her to an emergency vet for a check-up to be safe.
